life events: celebrate with us...
Christenings are a wonderful family occasion - and we are very happy to play our part in making YOUR christening into a truly memorable occasion.
Christenings take place during the 11.00am service at St Pauls, whilst at St Peters they can take place in the monthly 9.30am Family Service, or later at 1.30pm - depending on the circumstances.
We help couples to prepare for their christening, through joining in Sunday worship and conversations with the Vicar. It is often possible to 'tailor' services to reflect the individual circumstances.
Due to high demand and a busy church programme you are strongly advised to contact us well in advance of any christening request, and certainly before you make any other arrangements.
Contact us to start the conversation or drop into any of our services for a chat with the Vicar.
Weddings are one of the great moments in life, and we are very keen to offer you the possibility of having a fabulous wedding in church!
Whilst it is now possible to have weddings in a variety of venues, there is still something special about having a wedding in a church! For example, at St Pauls you can walk down the aisle to the sound of a magnificent pipe organ - or be regaled by a full choir. There are also a full set of bells which can greet your arrival at church. You just don't get that in a hotel venue!
If you want to discuss planning a wedding with us, we
recommend that you contact us well in advance, so that we can secure a date in the church diary. We will work with you to plan out YOUR special day, and many personalised requests can be included.
We invite you to come along to one of our services to get a feel of the church, or make contact with us to have a no-obligation chat.
Whilst funerals are inevitably a sad occasion, they are a fact of life that simply can't be avoided.
Even for those who were not regular churchgoers, a funeral in church is a fitting, moving place in which to host a service which celebrates the passing of someone's life.
We are always keen to have funerals in our churches, and work closely with local funeral directors and families to provide a tailor-made and personalised service which reflects the life of the person, set in the context of prayers and music.
There is also a practical benefit - in that our churches are not only more local than a distant crematorium, but also the largest buildings available to hold larger funerals.
Please do consider using the church when the time comes to arrange the funeral of a loved one
Both St Pauls and St Peters have facilities available for those wishing to celebrate. Both have well-equipped and modern kitchens, toilets (including with disabled access) and a variety of spaces that can be hired.
We can host
Small Family Gatherings
Children's Birthday Parties
It is usually possible, for example, to have a funeral service at St Peters, immediately followed by a funeral tea in our church hall. We can advise on catering and will even provide people to make the tea and coffee...
Send us a message if you'd be interested in finding out more. We will pass your details to the relevant person, who will then make contact with you.
